Hamburg, 30 April 2025 – Once the most dangerous stretch of water in Europe, today guests on the Riverside Mozart can relax on the ship’s sun deck and marvel at the almost 100-kilometre-long rapids, raising a glass of champagne to the magnificent scenery. The cliffs rise 300 metres high at the Danube Gorge – and this section is just one of the highlights of this river cruise: Serbia’s largest national park, Derdap; the legendary Carpathian Mountains; the Balkan Mountains; the sensational archaeological site of Lepenski Vir, a settlement dating back to 9,000 BC and little known, even though archaeologists mention it in the same breath as Herculaneum – the wild eastern reaches of the Danube are an adventure where there is something new to discover every day.
The Riverside Mozart sets sail from Budapest on 25 May 2025, and the journey ends in Belgrade on 31 May. In between lie three countries and countless experiences. The place names alone promise hidden gems: Mohács in Hungary with its rich cultural heritage; Donij Milanovac, a picturesque Serbian town situated on the riverbank, made famous by the Iron Gate; and Turnu Severin in Romania with its 13th-century fortified castle…
When guests return to the Mozart after eventful shore excursions, the butler awaits them with hot towels and a cool refreshment. On the lounge deck, a barbecue may already be preparing in the Green Egg, whilst an exclusive gourmet menu awaits in the restaurant. And in the evening, through the floor-to-ceiling windows of the suite, one can catch a final glimpse of this wild, exotic landscape.
Hamburg-based entrepreneur Gregor Gerlach founded Riverside Luxury Cruises in 2022 with his sister Anouchka, setting new standards in river cruising with plenty of space and first-class service on board, as well as truly special experiences during shore excursions: On board, there are suites instead of cabins, butler service for every guest, Michelin-starred restaurants where everything from croissants to sauces is homemade – and an exclusive excursion programme offering experiences that will stay with you for a long time to come. A gym, spa and StarLink broadband Wi-Fi round off the comfort. This not only delights guests but also impresses the experts: the Mozart was named the best European river cruise ship for gourmets by Forbes and was the winner of the 2023 Editors’ Pick Award for ‘Best Dining’ by Cruise Critic.
