Hamburg/Brixen, 23 July 2024 – It opened just a few months ago, and has already received its first prestigious accolade as an ‘ambassador for intelligent, sustainable and culturally rooted tourism’: UNESCO has named the Lasserhaus Arthotel in Brixen one of the 16 ‘World’s Most Beautiful Hotels 2024’. The prestigious “Prix Versailles” will be officially presented in Paris in November. In its statement, the jury noted that the Lasserhaus Arthotel, situated in the heart of South Tyrol’s oldest town, has stood since the 15th century, and that the renovation carried out by the architectural firm Vudafieri Saverino & Partners impressively “harmonises respect for the historic building with contemporary lifestyles”. The ten guest rooms convey “a sense of familiarity, intimacy and comfort”. UNESCO has been awarding the “Prix Versailles” since 2015.

The Lasserhaus Arthotel is a gem, effortlessly elegant and a fine example of first-class Italian design – featuring stylishly curved sofas in soft orange or reed green, velvet upholstery, designer lighting, fine woods and exclusive parquet flooring. The finest bed linen from ‘Frette’ ensures a restful night’s sleep. From most rooms and suites, the view stretches across the Eisack River to the silhouette of Brixen’s old town, with its cathedral and white tower. There will be regular wine tastings in the wine cellar, whilst the lounge offers a space to read and browse through books on architecture, design and art.

The façade, the cross vault and the atrium were preserved during the renovation. Modern art installations provide an exciting contrast to these historical treasures: Austrian media artist Peter Kogler, whose works have already been exhibited twice at Documenta in Kassel and at the Schirn Kunsthalle in Frankfurt, has covered the walls of the historic wine cellar with his characteristic serial patterns; tendrils and spheres that appear to circle create an illusory, almost psychedelic sense of space. Airy, light objects soar upwards like clouds – “Thoughts and Planets” is the title of the work Esther Stocker has created for the hotel. Ingrid Hora’s wall bars evoke memories of the gyms of our childhood, whilst neon signs set thoughts dancing: Petra Polli, who divides her time between Bolzano and Leipzig, has illuminated neon lines on the walls – “Expect the best” is written above the espresso machine in the small breakfast lounge – the perfect motto for the new Arthotel Lasserhaus. A variety of event formats are set to be repeated and developed over the course of several years, giving this charming hotel a unique selling point, such as temporary exhibitions, creative readings, writing workshops, concerts and an artist-in-residence project.

We would be happy to organise a personalised research stay for you.
